1. What do I get for my $100?
•
A chance to compete against some of the regions best hockey
players.
•
A chance to be coached on the ice by Terry O’Reilly,
Brad Park and Gerry Cheevers.
•
A Be A Bruin “report card” signed by Bruins President,
Harry Sinden, showing your scores in comparison to those
of current Bruins players.
•
A chance to attend “Be a Bruin” Training Camp
and compete for one of the three spots available at Boston
Bruins Training camp in 2006.
2. How many applicants are expected?
•
We are expecting hundreds applicants so get your registration
in early as try out dates are distributed on a first come
first serve basis.
3. If I make the top 36 how much will Be A Bruin Training
Camp cost?
•
The 36 finalists will attend the Be A Bruin Training Camp
expense free. This includes all lodging, meals and reasonable
travel expenses within North America. (See Rules and Regs.)
4. Can women register?
•
The competition is open to ALL non-professional hockey players,
male or female, 18 years of age or over. (See rules and Regs.)
5. Are College players eligible?
•
All college players are eligible, however, reimbursement
for expenses if selected among the final 36 for “Be
A Bruin Training Camp” will be subject to NCAA Eligibility
Rules. (See Rules and Regs.)
6. If I register do I have to be on television?
•
All registered participants must agree to be part of the
television series, “Be A Bruin” to be aired on
the New England Sports Network (NESN) in the winter of 2006-07.
•
Signing a standard television waiver will be part of the
registration process.
•
Registering and trying out does not guarantee you will be
included in the television show.
7. Do I have to have played organized hockey to register?
•
Registration is not limited to experienced hockey players;
however, we look forward to testing moderate to highly skilled
players.
8. Can I register for more than one time slot and be tested
twice?
•
The On Line registration process will only allow one slot
per participant.
•
If a participant wishes to be tested on more than one occasion
that request would have to be made by Email and a time would
be assigned subject to availability. (See Rules and Regs.)
9. Do I have to wear full equipment?
•
Since all skills will be evaluated on precision and time,
full equipment will be required by all participants in order
to level the playing field. Face shields/cages are up to
the discretion of the participant.
•
A minimum of a half face shield will be required for the
36 chosen to attend Be A Bruin Training Camp.
10. When will Be A Bruin Training Camp be held?
•
Be A Bruin Training Camp will be held at the New England
Sports Center in Marlboro, MA the second week of July 2006.
11. Will the top three finalists be guaranteed a spot on
the Boston Bruins roster?
•
The top three finalists will be guaranteed an invitation
to Boston Bruins Training camp. How far you go from there
is up to your skill and hard work.
12. When will we learn the skills?
•
A video demonstration of the skills will be available at
the rink upon sign in. Each applicant will have ample time
to view and learn the skills. The skills will also be demonstrated
on the ice.
•
All skills will be demonstrated and conducted in English.
13. Can I bring guests?
•
The skills competition is open to the public, so friends
and family are welcome to attend.
•
Filming for the series will be occurring during the entire
skills competition so any visitor may be included in the
show and will be asked to sign a television release upon
entering the Marlboro facility.
•
The “Be A Bruin” Training Camp will be open to
the public with the exception of the final day.
14. When will I find out if I’m one of the
36?
•
The top 36 will be announced at a press conference in late
June on a date still to be determined.
15. Will the skills and competition be multi-lingual?
•
Due to the logistics of creating a network television show
the entire competition, skills and judging will be in English.
